Its beginning dates back to the 1600's when European adventurers set up seasonal camps for fishing and trading. Jeremiah Pease started the Methodist Meeting Camp in 1835. The meetings had a small beginning with tents being used for shelter. Each year the meeting grew and by the mid-1800's, annual visitors began replacing the tents with elaborately decorated Gothic cottages that are among the most sought after to this day.
Edgartown, Martha Vineyard's first colonial settlement (1642) and one the most elegant, is the county seat. The preserved stately Greek Revival Houses help the town maintain its early 19th century feel.

Kennedy of our nation's 35th president at the Kennedy Memorial. Also, there is a video narrated by Walter Cronkite and more.
