Scientists have discovered that the Cape Cod waters are an important breeding ground for whales. From April to October, these gentle giants are regularly seen on the Whale Watches.
The Kennedy Memorial was built in 1966. You can see over 80 photographs spanning the life and career of John F. Kennedy, our nation’s 35 th president.
Sandwich is home to the picturesque Dexter Grist Mill and Shawme Pond. Established in 1637 by Plymouth Pilgrims, Sandwich is the Cape ’s oldest town. The Grist Mill was built on Shawme Pond in 1654 and featured a 54-inch French Burl millstone. Now, the Mill offers tours and sells fresh ground corn.
Plymouth Rock is located in the smallest park in the Massachusetts park system. But, it is the most heavily visited with almost one million people making the journey to visit the place where the first Europeans made there home in New England in 1620. Since then, the rock itself has had quite a fascinating story to tell. It has been moved several times to accommodate a proper resting place for it. Each time, it has been dropped and either broken or cracked. Souvenir hunters chipped away at it for many years until the town put a stop to that in the 1800s. Now it rests on the waterfront in downtown Plymouth .
