Itinerary: Rest Stop, on own, New York Thruway.

11:00 a.m. Arrive historic Mohonk Mountain House, located on Lake Mohonk in New Paltz, New York, Hudson Valley.
From the time of its founding in 1869 by Albert and Alfred Smiley, Mohonk has been a secluded, unspoiled resort of charm and grace, nestled in pristine wilderness. At the heart of this magnificent 20,000-acre natural area is Mohonk Mountain House, a turreted seven-story architectural delight stretching an eighth of a mile along Lake Mohonk. A feeling of comfort and home prevails at Mohonk. Comfortable rockers line balconies and wide verandas. The Mountain House is full of nooks and alcoves where you are free to read, relax, or chat, take afternoon tea or even a catnap.
You will have the day to explore the resort:
